Edit: A question to my English speaking watchers: could somebody maybe help me and proofread the text for my tutorial once I have translated it? That would be really nice.
I'm trying this checklist- thing to see if it helps me getting things I plan to do done. Also, to have it in front of my minds eye what I achieved already to get the inner critic to shut up and not telling me I'm lazy. So I'll edit this when I have done something.
So far want to:
Write a tutorial for my fascinator. A german and an english version.
- the text for the german one is nearly done, the next step will be arranging the pictures and translate it.
Write some stomach-pain-inducing E-Mails to my university (a professor Done and the institute for the didactics of physics Done)
Take a stroll through Frankfurt with my camera in tow
Clean the bathroom Done
Go swimming to keep my back from aching Done
We'll see how it works out.

Crocheting Crazyness
As some of you might have noticed, I am not as active as before. One of the main reasons is that my current favourite pasttime is not really artistic. After all, following instructional crochet-videos is not what I would call creative. But since it seems this infatuation is not going anywhere soon, I figured I could at least do something useful with it. So after wrapping all my friends in selfmade scarves and hats, I asked at the local homeless-project what they need. And they said not so much hats and scarves, but gloves and socks. What you see below are the first outcomes. Mostly fingerless, since I figured the guys and gals can't always pull the gloves off if they e.g. want to smoke a cigarette. The people from the project were so nice to gift me some socks-wool they had, which I combined with black acrylic wool to make it thicker. One of the things the lady from the project told me is that most homeless prefer black and dark colours, to not stand out if the hide in the woods,
Fabric with my design available
I know nobody requested it, but still I am proud: my first design on fabric is now available! A while ago I found the platform "stoffn", where you can upload your own designs and they will print it to you specifications. It's a Germany based business which has also a thing for being eco-friendly, meaning they will do what they can to produce less leftovers etc. That means you have to wait about 3-5 weeks, since they collect orders with the same fabric first. They ship internationally and have high quality stadards. You can't publish a fabric you have not ordered and checked the quality first for example whick lowers the chance for bad surprises. So, long story short, if youre interested you can find my first published design here: https://www.stoffn.de/profil/user/Xenaris.html You can choose the size of the pattern and fabric as well as the fabric itself. However you must accept that it will zake some time until you get it, but it will be worth the wait. :) Yours, Xen
Xenaris vs sewing a facemask
Since every bit counts against Covid-19 and medical masks should be only for medical staff (seriously! Don't hog them! Hospitals need them!) I decided to make the ultimate sacrifice and sew my own. I can't sew. I hate it. But ok. Since we all need all the entertainment we can get, feel free to laugh at my attempts. :) I'll document it here and update my progress.
I got some fabric from a really nice small store that even delivered it personally. It's just some scraps they had and they were really patient with me, explained via mail what is "cookable cotton" etc. The pattern I'll be using is published by the city of Essen and can be found her
Thoughts about being grounded by Covid-19
Just to be clear: No, I didn't test positive, there are no rules by the government forbidding me to go out. Germany so far has closed many cultural centres and schools, but we can go out if we want. I just think it's the reasonable thing to do so I stay home if I don't have to leave for work or groceries. So no matter this is a beautiful day to take photos, I'm gonna resist.
So here's my loose collection of how to entertain us at home. If you want to, you can add suggestions in the comments. :)
Reducing the Still-to-read-pile: There are probably a lot of books you have bought and wanted to read but never had time. Time to attack said pile!

I have found rewards work well for me. If I put laundry away I get to play a video game. If I clean the kitchen I get to eat a few cookies. It takes self control but it works. Unless you're sick. Then you don't care.
